FACULTY OF MATERIAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The Faculty prepares specialists of wide profile in sphere of materials physics and chemistry, as well as in the field of materials science, new materials and high technologies by offering diverse undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Lectures are integrated with the laboratory practice, projects and education in small groups. The Faculty contacts with industry play important role in the educational process. The study process includes field visits and professional trainings in the plants.

 

Nowadays the Faculty consists of 12 departments and scientific research laboratories where scientific researches are carried out by the academic staff of the Faculty and postgraduate students.

 

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY

Materials science and new technologies are based on the fundamentals of physics, chemistry, mathematics and the theory of control. The Faculty scientists develop new promising materials and carry out researches in wide areas of materials science introducing new physicochemical methods; mathematical simulation of various technological processes; solution of new technologies ecological problems; elaboration of new technologies such as modern casting methods for industrial and art articles; unique methods of laser, plasma-arc and electron-beam welding, hardening and coating; production of powder, amorphous and optical materials as well as  precision alloys with special properties and materials for electronic devices. The Faculty has established national and international partnerships almost in all spheres of its activities.

Faculty of Material Science  and Technology comprises the following 9 departments:

EDUCATION

The process of study at the Faculty is organised on a multilevel principle and includes:

    • basic higher education of 1-8 semesters providing a Bachelor Degree according to a particular programme of study;
    • engineer education of 9-11 semesters providing the engineer-mechanic diploma according to a particular speciality;
    • master education of 9-12 semesters providing a Master Degree according to a particular programme of study.
