FACULTY OF PHYSICS AND MECHANICS
Dean: Professor, Vadim K. Ivanov, Doctor of Sience

Faculty of Physics and Mechanics is one of the oldest in the University. It was founded in 1919 by the member of the Academy - Ioffe A. F. The graduates of this department are highly competitive and find employment in diverse spheres of science, industry and business. 8 departments working within the Faculty run courses leading to bachelor, specialist and master degrees.
The staff are highly qualified specialists - professors, associate professors, scientists, among them more than 30 members of Russian, International and Industrial Academies of Science.
THE SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY
The Alumni of the faculty made their contribution into nuclear & particles research, nuclear weapon design and development and nuclear power utilization, rocket engineering, space exploration, new resources development and traditional resources improvement.
The Faculty of Physics and Mechanics today is a center developing prospective directions in nuclear and particle physics, metal and condensed-state physics, spectroscopy, thermal physics, biophysics and genetic engineering, applied mathematics & computer science, wrought bodies mechanics and aero hydrodynamics, computer systems and engineering analysis.
