Andrey I. Rudskoy graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnical Institute in 1981 and in 1993 graduated from the Academy of National Economy at the Government of the Russian Federation. He received Doctor of Engineering Sciences Degree (Advanced Doctorship Degree) in 1998. In 2008 he became the Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Science.

Since 1985 he is a professor. Since 2001 he chairs the Department of metal forming of St.Petersburg State Polytechnical University. Since 2003 he has been the SPbSPU Vice-rector of the Polytechnical University. Since 2007 Andrey I. Rudskoy is the scientific director of SPbSPU Scientific-innovative Institute of Materials and Technology. On May, 2011, according to the decision of Polytechnical University’s staff and student conference, he has been appointed Rector of the SPbSPU.

Area of scientific interests of Andrey I. Rudskoy covers the theory and technology of nano-structured metallic materials, the theory of the metal forming and powdered materials. He is the author of more than 160 scientific papers, 9 monographs and 5 patents. A.I. Rudskoy is a Member of Russia Engineering Academy, Associate member of an International Higher Education Academy of Science, a member of the European Union of Metallurgists, a professor-adviser of Plank Institute and Hanover University (Germany).

Yuriy S. Vasiliev in 1951 graduated from the Hydraulic Energy Sources Department of the Leningrad Polytechnical Institute, he got his Doctor of Engineering Sciences Degree (Advanced Doctorship Degree) in 1973. From 1973 to 1999 was the head of the Renewable Energy and Hydro-Energy Sources Department of Leningrad Polytechnic Institute. He is a Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Sciences and Distinguished Scientist of Russian Federation (the highest scientific achievements official merit in Russia).
From 1983 to 2003 was the Rector of Polytechnical University (since 1994 – a President with the wrights of Rector). In October, 2003 was chosen as a President of SPbSPU and the chairman of The Tutorial Counsel.
Yuriy S. Vasiliev is an outstanding specialist in the field of hydro-power engineering and environmental protection, he is an author of more than 300 scientific articles and 45 monographs. He is a Member of Russian Academy of Sciences, a Member of International Higher Education Academy of Sciences and 10 branch-wise Academies and also an Honored Doctor of the Worldwide Technical University.
